I had the good fortune to read the 640 pages, 885 grams wonder written by the wordsmith Elmie Yan. The interaction of thoughts and the events described in the book are so awesome that sometimes I felt like one of the characters of the Book. The writing is so lucid and good that even a layman can relate. The book is really a GEM....grab your hands on it as soon as possible...."

Extracts from her letter: I truly do love your story in My Australian Prince, Elmie. Your book contains a depth of substance that is not easily forgotten; in fact, it grows on the reader.

My Australian Prince is a wonderful family saga that includes a great deal of intrigue, as well as romance and persevering love. The obstacles of your protaganists are both interior and exterior. Alain and Elizabeth have enemies in their lives, who are seeking to control and manipulate them, and they also, like all of us, deal with their own primary character defects, weaknesses and brokenness.

I love the way you portray the nuns in both continents. They are always holy, self-sacrificing, wise, caring and empathetic. They are courageous and savy enough to protect Elizabeth and I find it interesting that your book affirms their convents as places of graced refuge. The nuns you portray wear habits, live in poverty, and are serious, deeply prayerful, contemplative, joyful and fun-loving celibate Catholics. I applaud you for this. You nailed it.

After reading My Australian Prince, I read the book Controlling People, by Patricia Evans, and the two books fit together very well. My Australian Prince contains all sorts of people who have a passion for controlling the lives of others. Reading Controlling People gave me an even deeper insight of your book, which I hope to re-read in the near future.

(Notes from Elmie: Joan is highly knowledgeable of the Catholic Church; thus, she is in a position to make the above remarks about the Catholic nuns portrayed in My Australan Prince.)

Just read through your book "My Australian Prince". I enjoyed reading through. Its plot is quite intriguing. With elements of great romance, jealousy, adventure and suspense covering more than one generation of Kalgoorlie Goldfields aristocrats, it could be an attractive subject for Hollywood directors and for the screen. Why not write to the "Writers Guild" in LA for their comments and reaction.

Wish you best of luck. Congratulations again for writing such a book.

Hi Elm, I just finished your novel over the weekend and the conclusion was certainly exciting with all the twists and turns that prevailed - from utter deception to joy and disbelief..lots of suprises, lots of self-doubt among the characters so all in all a very compelling read.

I will close by quoting from your book when Sir William spoke "Alain, my Australian Prince, I feel like a candle dwarfing soon to melt in your life. Before I do, I would like to give you your childhood wish. I remember you asked me on your tenth birthday if we could not just move everything to Perth. Your wish is granted, my boy."

I loved that - so thanks again. I will recommend the book to all my friends and maybe you will be encouraged to write another one. Good job Elm!

I tended to read more crime, horror, thriller related stuff and lately some bizarro stuff too, so your book probably wouldn't have found its way to my bookshelf under normal circumstances. But in saying that I quite enjoyed it, especially as I recognised a lot of the places in Kalgoorlie and WA.

I am glad I read it and hopefully it gets the recognition it deserves and we can all celebrate our relatively simple families, hehehehehe!!!

Cheers from an avid reader

Hi, Elmie! Whew! What a story! So many different characters, so many plot twistings. I don't know, as a writer, how you could keep up with all the threads. You have a unique way of expressing yourself. I have to be careful, here, not to give away anything...I have to tell you that I got agitated sometimes with Alain and Elizabeth -- you know why! I was especially taken with Antonio Geridoo -- a most complex character, to say the least! And Pop -- what can I say -- he's larger than life. And I love Warra... The New Mothers Paradise is a genuis idea -- I'm not even going to address the French connection, except to say -- wow! Toward the end, you say something like "the cousins grow so much older than their parents did"...what a simple way of saying such a truism. Nobody's perfect, that is one of the major themes -- so true, we all struggle to do our best. What a story, and a most intriguing end to the only-child saga! I didn't give away anything. did I? Just enough... Good job, Elmie!

Highly recommended - this is not just another Romance Novel - it is much more.

I bought My Australian Prince as I befriended Elmie online. I fully expected it to be a 'romance novel' - which I don't normally read but I was curious. I was pleasantly surprised to find, on reading My Australian Prince, that it is an extremely intricate story spanning many generations. Yes there is romance in the novel but so much more. Elmie has most certainly done her research. It is a fictional story but contains many many interesting facts. You are missing out on a sensational experience if you do not read Elmie's book.
